Placed on waivers by TFC were Adam Braz, Miguel Canizalez, Srdjan Djekanovic, David Guzman, Stephen Lumley, Cristian Nunez and Marco Reda.

I can’t say that there’s any surprises there. Perennial backups.

Waiver draft to follow later today. Toronto FC will pick 2nd.

I’m not the happiest to see Pozniak go. He may not be the most talented guy in the squad but he certainly can play anywhere, which makes him a valuable player. I can understand why the “Earthquake” want him - he can fill a lot of hole for a squad with an uncertain line-up, but I’d love to have him back if Mo could swing it.

Plus, this’ll totally screw with my Football Manager 2008 team when players get injured…Time to break from the real squad, I suppose.

Well, those sure are funny looking happy faces. Head up and smiling, gents, that’s the look of winning with ease.

Wait, what? It hasn’t been easy?

Well, that’s unexpected. England, full of players of the likes of Lampard, Gerard, Rooney, Beckham, the Coles, etc., should have had an easy time. Oh well, at least they’re through to the finals anyway.

Wait, what? No, you’re kidding.

Don’t try to tell me they didn’t progress to the finals. That’s ridiculous. Unthinkable even. You can’t fool me, this is ENGLAND we’re talking about. We INVENTED the sport. Haha, next you’ll tell me the Canada isn’t going to qualify for the next World Cup of Hockey.

Fiiiine, I’ll read your little BBC report…..

….oh boy….

I’m outraged! This IS ridiculous then, isn’t it! Alright, line ‘em up, who’s going to the guillotine first?

Ah, I see that the FA has taken a good first step.

Let’s be honest, his career as Manager never really got going. A clear second choice to Luiz Scolari after a disastrous World Cup 2006 saw Erikkson sacked, McClaren never really showed confidence or quality as manager. Never was this more evident than in yesterday’s game. Lining up a 4-5-1 experiment and Scott Carson in goal? Well, that sounds like the recipe for the quick 2-0 deficit going into half.

And how do you not start Becks? I mean come on! There’s no one in the squad that performs at a higher level in big games than David Beckham. Of course he played the cross of the game to set up the 2nd English goal, when you finally let him on in the second half, THAT’S WHAT HE DOES!

Surely, however, McClaren isn’t going to be enough to satiate the need to blame, so let’s see who else we can add to the queue.

Here we go - good ol’ Keano. Voicing his opinion once again to help me out.

“My opinion, looking in on England from the outside, is that there are too many egos involved in the England set-up and that has cost them dear,” said Keane.”When you look at the talent that the England lads have got it is really unbelievable they haven’t qualified.

The players, oh how you disappoint. But maybe that’s the hype preceding you, over-hyping your skill, passion, effort. I would hope that it isn’t a lack of desire to win, but that’s where Keane lays the blame.

Thankfully, for you, not even Scott Carson will be the scape-goat for the English masses. It seems that if we’re looking for a proverbial rolling head, it will solely be that of McClaren. Paul Ince is hard to argue with in saying,

“Some of his decision-making was wrong, especially for the massive games like against Croatia,”

“He got the tactics wrong. David Beckham had to play - he’s a leader and when you’re playing Peter Crouch up front, it doesn’t make any sense to have the best crosser in the world on the bench.”

And as good a keeper as Scott Carson is, David James has been the best in the Premier League for the last 10 years; if he’s dropping Paul Robinson, he’s got to play James.”

So, Steve, it looks like you’re it. Stiff upper lip, Old Boy, stiff upper lip.

According to this Globe and Mail article, we can expect the MLS to ease the regulations that limit the number of International players on the squad. This will largely be a response to the predicament that the team was put in this past season when overwhelmed with injuries as we were limited by the small pool of available Canadian professionals.

Allowing the signing of more International players will help if the team finds itself in need of reinforcement next season. But really, why look abroad? How do we go about getting our hands on homegrown talent Dwayne De Rosario? Congratulations go out to him for his MLS Cup MVP award last Sunday.

Larry Millson, on the Globe and Mail soccer blog, is reporting that Mo has indeed gone to South America to find new talent. Apparently the focus is on finding a forward to add to the ranks of Samuel, Cunningham, Lombardo, and Dichio. Which from that list will still be in the squad come next season, we will have to wait and see.

Also, almost in afterthought, Millson mentions that Andrew Boyens is looking into becoming a Canadian citizen. If that’s true, and the talk of Dichio also becoming a Canadian, we can look forward to being helped with regards to the strict Senior International player roster regulations.

Finally, congrats to Maurice Edu on being named Rookie of the Year. He stepped up in a big way this season.
