Other than releasing nice-guy-but-ineffective Andrew Boyens earlier today it didn’t look like much else would transpire at the deadline of this transfer window.

However, the Score.ca (who I’d like to thank for the shout-out yesterday) is now reporting that Patrick Kluivert may be on his way to Toronto FC.

Kluivert is a Dutch international that has score almost 200 goals for Club and Country over his career which has spanned the likes of AC Milan, Ajax and, importantly, Newcastle, where he was coached by none-other-than Mr. Carver himself.

Now, like any player that was once a big star and is now willing to come to a last place team in the MLS, Kluivert isn’t without his baggage. His Wikipedia page can attest to that. So, if this pans out, who knows what we’ll be in for - Hopefully a lot more goals and team-spirit than Rape allegations (acquitted, btw) and vehicular-Manslaughter (ya, um, guilty…)

I think it was the boys on the Footy Show podcast that said, and I’m paraphrasing, it’s all well and good to be nice guys, but nice guys finish last (last year, for example.) So, if we need a bunch of badasses out there playing selfishly while pouring on the goals and winning games, so be it. Nothing brings a team together like winning, in the end. Right?…..

Quote of the week, thus far -

“I do, first of all, what God said, and then what I feel.â€

- Amado Guevara on where he gets his orders. Presumably, Carver comes next on the list…
