…the only weekend of the year I have to work. Brutal.
But, that being said, what do we have to look forward?
Well, for starters, it’s been months without a homefor the supporters. I predict noise - a lot of it. (I know, bold prediction right?)
Rohan Ricketts is making his debut. He sounds like a confident dude and and he’s aware he has a point to prove. So I’m looking for a measurable contribution from him today and would love to see some speed out of him. If he’s as fast as I’ve been told, I think the whole pace of the team will be brought up a notch or two. Wynne going back, Ricketts going forward…nice.
There’s also been a full week of training under the current roster now, so hopefully the passes are that much more confident and the communication better. I thought that during the Galaxy game Guevara showed he can pass to anyone - having only trained once with the squad prior to the game - so I’m hoping for another step forward.
Anyway, here’s how things are going to go this afternoon:
Robert’s going to score. I’ve seen it.
Dichio will continue to be amazing.
Sutton will get a clean sheet even though RSL will get a goal. Everyone will agree that it was wholly Velez’s fault, and that it would be unreasonable to credit a goal against to Sutton, who’s tall, by the way.
Mo will be sweaty from pacing the sidelines - Carver will give him the crook-eye.
Robinson will step it up. He’s due.
Edu will score a Birthday goal and then I’ll buy him a drink tonight. But only one, no heavy boozing during the season.
Phelan will call Velez a joke. No one will laugh though, because it’s painfully true.
